The Ten Gods (十神)
The Ten Gods label every character in a Four Pillars chart by how it relates to your Day Master. Here is what each one means for work, money and love, with a lookup table for every Day Master.
Friend & Rival
- Friend (比肩)
Same element and same yin/yang as your Day Master. Independence, self-direction, peers and siblings — and competition for the same share.
- Rob Wealth (劫財)
Same element, opposite yin/yang. The ally who may also take from you — competitive drive, boldness and risk-taking.
Output
- Eating God (食神)
The element you produce, same yin/yang. Talent, enjoyment, appetite and steady, easy-going output.
- Hurting Officer (傷官)
The element you produce, opposite yin/yang. Sharp words, bold expression, innovation — brilliance that can offend authority.
Wealth
- Indirect Wealth (偏財)
The element you control, same yin/yang. Money that moves fast — business, trading, investment, a nose for opportunity and an open hand.
- Direct Wealth (正財)
The element you control, opposite yin/yang. Salary, savings, money earned by steady work — thrift and responsibility.
Authority
- Seven Killings (偏官)
The element that controls you, same yin/yang — also called Seven Killings (七殺). Pressure, discipline, danger, strength forged under stress.
- Direct Officer (正官)
The element that controls you, opposite yin/yang. Rules, reputation, status and a stable position — the conventional path walked well.
Resource
- Indirect Resource (偏印)
The element that produces you, same yin/yang. Unconventional learning, intuition, specialised skill and solitude.
- Direct Resource (正印)
The element that produces you, opposite yin/yang. Education, mentors and mother, documents and credentials, being protected.
